This blanket is now the nicest blanket in my house. I’m giving it 4.6 stars which rounds up to 5.
CONS: There were some very minor cosmetic issues. First, there are a few dark blue blue pen marks. I’m almost positive these are from fabric seamstress markers. If that is the case, that’s fine because it’s meant to wash out completely. If not, I will come back to edit my review. To mea this shows that humans made it and not a machine. Second, there are a few knots of yarn/thread. I show these in one of the photos. Doesn’t affect it use-wise as the material is so soft. Last, it is advertised as all season, but this is not for cool weather.
PROS: First, So giftable! Take it out of the plastic and gift it in the lovely tote bag. I have a canvas tote bag I purchased that isn’t as nice as this one! It’s a very thick canvas and there’s an internal pocket! They obviously take great pride in their product and reputation because they put so much thought into the packaging. Inside the canvas tote is the blanket folded and tied with branded ribbon. There is also a care card. It’s machine wash and dry! That’s awesome.
But let’s talk about this cotton. Wow. This is good. I have two sets of Egyptian cotton sheets we were gifted for our wedding over 12 years ago. They get better with every wash and I’ve never been able to find anything as nice as those sheets. This is as nice as those sheets. Touching this – you know it’s going to get better with every wash. I can tell because of the feel. This cotton feels smooth like silk and cool to the touch. And the weight of the fabric is very heavy. It screams quality. The fact that it’s stark white might be contributing to this, but it feels like something you would have in a really lux resort.
The herringbone pattern is quite lovely. I would say this is a Spring and Summer blanket. The drape of the heavy cotton is fabulous. But it’s not really a thick blanket. Now, that’s ideal for me so I’m thrilled with it. It’s more of a light blanket to snuggle with when you want the comfort of a blanket but it’s not 60 degrees. I did take a photo holding it in front of a window so you can see that it is still a good thickness. Even the bright white has nothing showing through. This is ideal for having on a couch or leaving on the end of a bed in a guest room.
The finishing is great. It’s got a lovely beefy folded edge all around. I don’t see any shabby sewing on this. It’s 100% cotton made in India. And generously sized! They might have added extra to account for any shrinkage with washing. The listing says the twin blanket is 68 x92. I measure mine at 74x95. Excellent blanket. Would be wonderful for a gift. Nice for yourself as well, of course!
